Industry Catch-Up: What is the US Gambling Industry Worth?
The US gambling industry is on track for another record-breaking year with projections set at $44 billion for 2021, based on revenue figures published by the American Gambling Association for the first two quarters. The top-earning states are Nevada, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
With such figures rolling in, the industry is back to full pre-pandemic levels. Meanwhile, iGaming revenue is also hitting new highs with a record $1.66 billion revenue for the first half of 2021, which is already more than 2019's total figure of $1.55 billion.
For any states currently considering online gaming reform, these figures will undoubtedly provide an insight into the possible tax potential should they go ahead. And it seems the population is all for it, with seven in every ten US voters believing that gambling contributes positively to the US economy.
