Senator Addabbo Sets Sights on January Launch for NY Sports Betting

Court Ruling Stops Sports Betting in Florida

Sports betting in Florida has ground to a halt after Columbia District court this week ruled that the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s state compact violates the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988.

Sports betting in the state launched on November 1st after a gaming compact was agreed between the state and Florida’s Seminole Tribe in May that granted exclusive online and retail sports betting rights.

However, the compact was challenged this week by two casino operators, who claimed that it goes against the Florida constitution, questioning if online gambling constitutes gambling on tribal lands or if it created an “expansion of tribal lands,” which according to the FL constitution must be agreed by referendum.

Judge Friedrich ruled that the compact attempted to “authorize sports betting both on and off Indian lands.” Adding, “By simultaneously authorizing sports betting on Indian lands and deeming gaming across Florida to occur on those same lands, [the compact] purports to authorize sports betting throughout the State.” Therefore, this was clearly outside of tribal gambling and considered an expansion.

Judge Friedrich ruled for the immediate revoking of FL’s new gaming compact, reinstating the 2010 pre-existing compact, and advised state and tribal parties to renegotiate new pathways to legal online gambling.

Game of the Week

Dream Catcher RTP: 96.58%. Evolution Gaming.

Dream Catcher is a live dealer game show from Evolution Gaming, and one of the only live game shows currently available to NJ and PA players.

It’s a high thrill spin and win money wheel game with 54 segments on the wheel. To play and win, all you need to do is lay bets on the wheel segment you think the game will stop on after the dealer spins it. Bet correctly, and you win. Make an unlucky guess, and you lose your opening stake.

But that’s not all; you’ll also see two segments on the wheel with x2 and x7 on them. You don’t need to bet on either of these as they are bonus segments. Should the wheel stop on one of these, all bets remain for a re-spin, with the multiplier added to the winning bets.
